Afternoon all. Can any one explain the meaning of the final reference letters on the Manual gearbox.
i.e. all 6 speed manuals are ZF or Getrag GS6-37BZ but M54 cars end in THEA, Ms end in TJEE and 3.0SIs end in TJES.
I have been able to find out that T refers to the bolt spacing on the bellhousing. J refers to N or S code engines but I can't get any further. Any ideas what EA, EE and ES mean ? I suspect it is to do with the type of clutch and location of the pilot bearing but don't know for sure. I haven't tried to contact ZF yet but may well do if no-one knows. I hope not but I may need to source an exchange or 2nd hand gearbox and want to know the options. Many thanks.
