Gearbox off - have I thought of everything?

Hi guys,

My car needs a new clutch as the release bearing is pretty noisy and the propshaft support bearing is also clunky as hell.

So, as the gearbox will be coming off I wanted to check what else should I be changed whilst all this stuff is off.

So far I have thought of the following.

1. Clutch kit
2. Flywheel
3. Prop support bearing
4. Rear main shaft seal

5.Possibly the prop shaft rubber flex disc/guino - however, having locked at the under the car it looks fine!

For items 1-4 I have been quoted £1260 by one Indy specialist, and £1352 by another which I don’t think is too bad…

Also, if the flywheel doesn’t need replacing then it’s £492 less, so £765.

Is there anything else I should be considering?

Thanks, Nathan.

Depending on the age of the car it’s worth looking at the condition of the engine and gearbox mounts.

How’s your handbrake holding out? Easy to change whilst the prop and exhaust are off.
