Gearbox & diff oil

Hi all,

I have a '08 2.5 Si, am I correct in thinking the gearbox is 75w GL-4 and the diff is 75-90 GL-5?

The diff oil plug, is this an integrated seal like the gearbox oil plugs? Does anyone know the part number for the diff plug(s)

The Diff parts diagram doesn't show drain and filler plugs, yours may not have a drain plug just a filler plug but not shown as it's suppoisidly filled for life as BMW like to do!!

This is what I ordered to do the gearbox and diff on mine. I can't remember which is for which, however. This for an E86 n52 3.0si.

I got my replacement full plug off eBay, as it was cheaper than BMW.
 
Diff plugs have an integrated seal and are reusable. Since you've got an '08 you almost certainly won't have the drain plug - they did away with those in 06/07.
 
As I suspected then no Diff drain plug on yours so if you want to change the oil you will have to use a syringe to pull the oil out and then refill with the new oil.
 
New fill/drain plugs will typically include a new O-ring.
"Filled for life" is a joke. What it really means is Filled for life (of warranty).
ALL fluids have a finite service life.
