I'm going to change both however I can't to seem to find the specs when I do a search - can you guys recommend the oils specs and amount for each please. TIA

Gearbox - Redline MTL 70w-80 GL4 (1.7 litres)

Differential - Castrol Syntrax LSD 75W 140 (1.2 litres)

Be sure to first loosen the fill plugs and then the drain plugs (if you cant loosen the fill plugs you have a big problem with the oil drained out)

Thanks pal, I always do that but it's great advice and much appreciated.

I’d stick with genuine Bmw stuff .... the previous owner put in millers / something else for the gear/diff ... correct grade and everything . After having my ins 2 done with correct Bmw stuff the gearbox felt very very much better for it . Smoother .

When did the previous owner change the transmission oils?

The 65k ZMR i recently bought had really baulky - notchy gearchange from the off through 1st & 2nd whereas both previous 2 ZMRs were slick , light & easy through all gears .
I had the cdv removed & also had g box & diff oils changed to Millers & it was like driving a different car afterwards .
Fresh Bmw fluids may well have had similar effect but im happy as is

I also had the cdv mod at the same time ... so this could have also had a bearing in it . I have millers in all my other cars , it’s good stuff . Just my experience that’s all

Id say it was most likely the cdv that did it , ive changed box & diff oils along the way in previous Z4 Si . Z4Ms on wildly differening mileages with no immediate difference but a E89 23i on 127k that was notchy in 1st & 2nd when cold was improved significantly with a change of oil in the gearbox :? that was original fluid i suspect & Millers went in

My gearbox was great, all the way until I had my little accident, at which point it became notchy.

Insurance just kept saying they were known to be like that, and wouldn’t listen to my protestations...despite it being a fairly recent new clutch & flywheel.

I was going to change the input seal in the coming months however, I'm not sure if the centre bolt needs to be pre-loaded when it's tightened. Pelican doesn't state that it does though.
