Gear knob removal issues

Okay, so I’ve removed these before and know the drill on the E85. 4th gear, hood down, grab gear knob and pull with all your might whilst at the same time watching you don't hit yourself in the face or anywhere else.

Mine wont budge though. I’ve put everything into it and its stuck fast, leading me to believe its probably glued on. Any ideas on how else I might get it to shift before I attack it with a Dremel and replace with my Storm Motorwerks one?

Have you tried a rubber mallet and hitting it downwards? If it is glued that may be enough to unstick it?

Tried a mallet but still no joy. Looking increasingly like I’ll need to Dremel or hacksaw it off somewhere to gain access to the notch.

Explain that to the missus!
I’m borrowing your hair dryer to get my knob nice and hot in the hope I can pull it off easily in the car.

Mrs inkey$ is used to my antics by now and largely ignores me
Twisting and pulling I’ve tried although how much use is debatable as its pushed down into a horizontal notch in the shaft
[insert more knob joke replies below]

Plus one on the heat, get it all nice and warm. Two hands, firm grip, no twisting as you can break a plastic component further down the line and the notch up top won’t allow it to anyway.

Now if only there was a topic more suitable for dubious innuendo…

Managed to get it off via my friendly local indy I was booking some work in with at the time. I must just be much weaker than I was 6 months ago

Just remember you don't get weaker because you get older - you only get weaker because you stop playing.

Sounds like you've bought the E85 just in time

And good luck with the 107 search - shame you weren't a few weeks earlier and we could have had a deal

 Need to get playing again then.
No luck with 107s on here yet but in no rush. Have details of a vendor, but I’ve already spent too much money this month on the car and want to draw out the process a little
