Gear gaiter/ central trim removal for handbrake adjustment

Hi all,

I need to remove my gear gaiter and a piece of trim (highlighted in the below pictures) so I can get to the handbrake adjuster.

(Pictures aren't mine, I have the brushed alloy trim in my car)

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated, the car is off the road because I can't get to this adjuster (new disks on and the handbrake is rubbing ALOT on the inside of the disk).

Thanks in advance!

The plastics around the gaiter simply clip off, just pull it and it will come lose. you may need a plastic trim removed to get it started.

The plastic strip the slides forward about 10mm and lifts off.

However! From memory after removing mine for wrapping you can not adjust the hand brake there and it needs to be done from under the car???

Thanks for the help, do you mean forward towards the gearknob or towards the storage compartment?

The handbrake adjuster I mentioned is this: http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=781001

Forward towards the gear stick

*Update*

Tensioner spring for the self adjusting handbrake will not compress enough to clip into place. This is how is should sit:

Mine is short by about 2mm and wont clip in! Arghh! Not allowing me to adjust the handbrake and therefore can't drive the car.

Any help?
