Garage with no power

ADVICE PLEASE

I am putting the Mcoupe to bed shortly for the winter months and the only garage I have is far, there is no power and no possibility of getting power. Is there such a thing as a battery trickle charger?

The only other thing I was thinking of was perhaps a second battery linked to the car battery and to take that off every month and charge it. Would that work or has anyone used an alternative system?
 
I think that would work, however would there be an issue removing your battery and keeping it charged at home? I'm not a mechanic so I'm sure someone will be along shortly to confirm if this ok or a defo no can do! :D :thumbsup:
 
would two batteries not work - connect one - take the other one home for a charge and replace, when I' ve changed steering wheels I' ve disconnented a battery for a short time - 1 hour without any serious issue.

No, there is no daylight; but assuming the cables are long enough, or extendable, it has to work

Looks like a good option - definitely don't take the battery out for a few months as I think the car will go into transport mode, which from what I've seen on here is a PITA to get out of :!:

Agreed, I would never take the battery out or leave the battery dead for more than a few days.
The car would go to sleep, possibly permanently :cry:
 
Is there anywhere you can mount a solar panel in daylight within 8 - 9 feet of the garage?

Ebay have some but they are mainly designed to stick to the windows of the car and not be open to the elements.
 
in my experience leaving cars unused during winter is asking for problems ,I have used the solar panels but the battery still drained down in the frost /snow .
 
Are we talking about an E85/E86?
Living in extremely cold weather here in Canada, the Z(2003 3.0) goes in a barn for the winter. I always remove the battery completely for at least 4 months with no problems at all. The only thing you will have to reset is your clock. Even the radio station settings will survive. Bring you battery in a non freezing area and charge it say every month. According to other post in another forum, there is more risk to go in transport mode when the G5 module detects low voltage. So more likely to happen when leaving the battery in.

Here si my receipe for storing:
-wash the car
-change oil if is due.
-put some fuel stabilizer in the full tank as per the instructions on the bottle label and drive it to its final location for at least 10-15 mins to make sure the stabilizer mixes well inside the tank.
-once there, I drove the Z over a plastic tarp that I layed on the floor. (not nescessary but it doesn't hurt)
-lower both windows about 1/8 inch and remove the battery.
-put a few sheets of bounce on the floor(foot well) and trunk to repell mice and rats.
-cover the car.(dont use a plastic tarp cover but one that let the air and humidity to go through).

Have a nice winter !

Just out of curiosity why do you drop the windows? Is it to let moisture out?
