Hi All,

I've recently found out that my E85 Z4's 2.0 N46 is sadly not in a good way due to poor maintenance and lack of oil changes prior to my ownership leading to pitted/corroded camshafts and sludge build-up throughout.

I've spoken with my local BMW independent who originally identified the issues, and they have suggested that it would be more economical to replace the engine with a refurbed unit rather than chase all of the potential issues that the current unit that may arise when tearing it down.

Has anyone got any recommendations as to any garage's that would be able to source/carry out the replacement or have had experience the same issues?

I'm based 25 miles north of London and have attached a few images of the damage to provide context, I would really appreciate your help on this as it's my first proper car which I've owned just over two months and would love to have it ready for the spring!

Thanks :)

Hi [ref]C17Globe[/ref], I assume these weren't exactly the suggestions you were hoping for?
However, if you did decide to go down that route then search for Jingle's posts as he has recently done exactly this transplant on his.
