GapTech roof module - who can install it properly (Bristol)?

Hi guys,
I bought and installed the GapTech roof module last October, and it worked fine for a couple of months. Sometimes it did not work to press the console button for only 3-4 seconds, it was stopping and I had to press the button the entire way down.

A few days ago it stopped working completely, either from buttons or from the key. I checked the wires and made sure they are in contact but I could not see anything wrong. After this, now it works getting the roof down or up from the console buttons but not from the remote.

Looking at this thread, I think I need to soldier the wires together or use better connectors. Do you know somebody in Bristol that can do this (have some experience with this module)? or should I use a regular car electrician?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I only installed mine on Sat & it works a treat! Folded the ends of the RCH+ unit cables to ensure a really solid connection and used steady pressure on some pliers to splice into the car cables.

It was a bit temperamental for the first use, but now works fine.

Good luck with getting yours fixed.

Cheers.

Have u tried calling Gaptech to ask for their advice?

I know there was a thread on here with someone who had a problem, though everyone else seems once they get it working it contnues to work, so by asking Gaptech they could suggest some simple tests to check it's not their component that has faiiled

Soldering isn't that difficult, just remember to get the iron nice and hot, clean the tip and use a bit of flux on the joint to help draw the solder in.

Shame you didn't mention it before. I could have done it for you last Sunday. I have a nice little gas soldering iron. :(

As someone whos barely soldered. Try DIY. Its easy!

Just fold the wires over each other, a bit of solder so they cant come apart, then cover in electrical tape.

Bobs your uncle.
