Gaptech problem

Hey,

Just fitted a second hand Gaptech bought on here to the M, the one touch roof up and down works on the centre console,
but it's not responding to the key when asked to open or close. I've triple checked the connections, as far as I know there's no learning process on it so I'm at a loss. It's working normally for a standard Gaptech but It's the Gaptech plus so should operate from the key fob.

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers muchly.

Does the key in door do the roof both ways, does press an hold drop the roof before gaptech was fitted, got one not fitted if you want to try another gaptech an see if same occurs if prove a fault

Hi John, have you got the instructions explaining the key button sequence to operate the roof? (i.e its not one press)

If you've used scotchlocks to connect it ensure they're as tight as can be.

I had to squeeze mine 5 times with pliers before it'd eventually work.

Alternatively most people recommend soldering instead

It is a bit fussy with the key presses, you have to get the timing right.

Bet you are just an impatient northerner that wants to presspresspress instead of press ..... press ..... press ....

And what is this nonsense about an M you kept quiet about? :poke:

There's another thread about John buying lots of cars, including an M, even mr wilks is getting worried he will be over taken as the car collector
When I fitted my Gaptec, I thought it wasn't working...then I read the instructions :headbang:

Thanks very much chaps. The thing I was mostly waiting to hear was problems with 2nd hand ones. I hate those crap scotchblocks connectors, but getting to electric and not being in the rain is a problem and yes, I'm a bit impatient so I used them, I'll give them another squeeze and failing that take the thing out and do the job properly with solder....

Thanks especially Mark and Dietcokeman...much appreciated chaps.

Only popped in for a look out of interest Paul...then my oxygen pump ran out of battery and....well...bloody sales guy could have got me to sign for pretty much anything then. I feel rather fortunate I haven't got a lime green Lambo sitting on my drive that he had in....

Hahah.
I generally forget sequence and fluff it up
Or too quickly on mine
It's a slow 1 2 3 button press as if resus
And all is good, my auto sparky did mine and threw locks in bin
