Full Circle Z3 to Z4

Hi All, I finally made it back to the Z owners club. I just placed an order for a Z4 M4.0 Handschalter Edition in Thundernight Metallic. I have been in love with the Z since the mid 90’s when the Z3 made its debut. My first Z was a 2001 Z3 3.0 M Sport with the 5 speed. I loved that car and should never have sold it but with three young kids, I never had time to drive it so I bought an E46 330Ci M Sport convertible with the 6 spd. That was also a fun car but I ended up selling it a few years ago in favor of an S5 convertible which my wife will keep. Since then I have pined for Z4 with a 6 speed manual. I drove the automatic since I couldn’t find a dealer with a manual and it was an awesome car on so many levels. With rumors swirling that this is the end of the line for the Z and every manufacturer abandoning their manuals and droptops, I decided to get one while I could. I ordered a 2026 so I won’t see it until August. In the meantime I would love to hear from others that have that same car.

My first Z was a 2001 Z3 3.0 M Sport with the 5 speed.

Just out of interest; do you remember the reg number, as I have (what's left) of a 2001 Z3 3 litre sport in Topaz blue?

I don’t remember. Mine was the sterling gray metallic. I sold it to someone in the states in about 2015. It had less than 64k km on it when I sold it. It was in outstanding original condition. The guy was buying it as a summer car only so hopefully it’s still on the road.
