Fuel Filter/Pressure Regulator Leak

Hi all,

Just as I celebrated nothing going wrong after having most of my car apart, I enter the garage to find it stank of petrol.

After a lot of searching I found that the fuel filter housing has a hair line crack. Brilliant. Only now I've noticed that at some point someone tried a repair in that area and now I know why... BMW discontinued the part.

I've now ordered a genuine one from eBay. But dreading doing that job. Any tips to anyone who's dealt with the fuel supply system?

Pelican parts have a good guide, can't help apart from that I'm afraid, I got a garage to do mine, I remember Darragh mentioning it was a bit of a pain.

Presume you mean the fuel filter housing? Sure it's a discontinued part 16117168284 ? Guessing you mean something else as seems to be plenty available online, stupidly expensive though.

Yeah I've seen that one. Hard to understand how annoying the connectors are - I've always struggled with fuel connectors for some reason.

Yes, I rang Cotswolds BMW to order one but they told me there's no stock even in Germany and BMW discontinued the part, so no future stock. So I ended up buying the collar from them and some fixings and a genuine filter housing from some German dealer on eBay. All in it's close to £300.

do these just break from wear and tear because this looks like a royal PITA.....

I don't know what caused this one to crack. But there are a few posts online of this happening to other Z4s (this part is shared across quite a few Z4s if not all, including E89s).
