Fuel cap lock working backwards

Morning all

I replaced my broken fuel cap lock yesterday but stupidly didn’t check it before putting the car back together. When locking the car, the fuel cap unlocks. When unlocking the car, the fuel cap locks. Do I need to take the wheel arch liner out again, unplug the locking actuator, activate the lock once and then plug the actuator back in to get it back in sync or is there likely to be a quicker and easier way?

Thanks.

Must try not to laugh.
Thinking about it I suspect you’ll have to get it out again. If not you are trying to force it against its motor and I don’t think that will end well.

Such a rookie mistake! Well if it stops raining I'll dismantle once again and try to fix it.

Had to unplug the fuel locking actuator, locked the car, plugged the actuator back in and now all working and in sync should anyone else ever experience this issue. Luckily car was still on axle stands with no wheels on so not a huge job (but one I could nevertheless have avoided if I wasn’t such an amateur!)

To be fair, it's an unusual system that doesn't have absolute control states and instead just toggles between them. Generally such things are avoided as designers know what might happen out in the real world (bits of grot, dodgy connections, etc.)
