Front shocks 23i - Not much choice out there.

Daughters 23i failed its MOT on a leaking front shock so naturally I started looking for a new pair and was ‘shocked’ to discover the lack of aftermarket options.

Only seem to see Sachs and Bilstein, can anyone else help with other options?

Cheers

Can't speak for E89, but Sachs are OE for E85 and Bilstein B4 are the equivalent.
Why would you be looking for others?

Thanks for your insight. Struggling to get a pair at decent prices and in time so just asking for any other options before biting the bullet.

Fair enough. My post looked a little rude, but wasn't meant to be.
I just put your car into Autodoc and it only shows Sachs or Bilstein.
Both looking around £200 a pair.
Though right now for some reason the RH Bilstein is only £78 where the left is £92.

I think if it were me, and intending to stay standard, then it would be Sachs

No worries bud

Both are a good option so I’ll just go cheapest and it’ll be 6-8 business days delivery so should be ok.

While the struts are apart you should fit new top mounts and bump stops too. Again, my experience is E85, but Lemforder made the OE top mounts.

I use KW and am very happy with them. It’s possible they have coilovers that would fit a 23i.

Now, I urge caution with replacing or upgrading only half of the struts. If your daughter is a very gentle driver, then it should be ok. If she’s a bit of a lead foot, that half new half old setup may not be good. But everybody has a favourite kid.

I have fitted B4s fitted to my Superb and previous E85 as well. Car feels great on them and much nicer than stock. Will do the same when required on the E89.

Given the B4 is stock equivalent I would suggest they feel much nicer because the originals were dead.
