Front lights dilemma

As some of you may know I'm halfway through de-gingering my Z with rears, centre rear, and sides, all clear.

An offer has come up on a pair of 2006 clear front units in very good condition (halogen type) These will stand me in at £350

or

Other option is a cheaper aftermarket set of angel eye style units from eBay. Most of the aftermarket type are from US and require modification. All state they are quality product but I am worried about build quality/ lifespan/ misting etc over the OEM type, even though they have the angel eye light style, which does look cool. These are around £250

or

I could stick with what I've got and possibly do a recondition on the lenses as they are showing a little clouding, save some money, and let the front ambers be.

I really like the idea of the OEM ones I just can't bring myself to part with the £350!

What would you do?

350 quid is cheap for a straight swap.

Mine were nearly 200 and I had to cut my originals up.

You'll get your money back if you ever sold them on also.
 
Cut the lights open, fit angle eyes and tint the amber lens black or the same blue as your car. £60 all in :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

I'm almost sold. The £350 is parts only. I would like to do the labour myself but it's easier for me to get it done at a garage as I don't have the facilities to do this type of work at the moment. No garage and I'm using the car. Not ideal I know but it's that or no Z at all.

I'm not up for a cutting project. The clear does look good on the Maldives.

Not a huge job - if you know someone who knows what he's doing a Saturday morning should get it sorted and a trip to an MOT centre to check alignment.
 
Just bought the ones I sourced on eBay. They are from a 2006 model and are halogen type so they should plug and play.

The guy just called me and they have broke one if the lugs getting them out of the warehouse! They were near perfect condition. They will refund £50 if I don't return them so I may just go ahead with them :-/

This is the lug that's broken. Apparently they were near perfect condition but the warehouse worker dropped one getting them ready to dispatch, head bang!

Gave me a bit of leverage in the end and got them for £280, including p&p, so hopefully there won't be any problems fitting

Wondered who won them, I was watching them and was tempted but couldn't justify the money just for clear indicators as good as they would look

Well I did spend a few days deciding then I found that my credit card limit was increased which prompted me to by them!

It's the last de ginger job on the car that really bugs me, plus I have a loose headlight and a clouding condition that seems to be getting worse

Thanks, I was going to ask the fitter to maybe use a bigger washer to hold it in place or some adhesive. I've asked for the bit that's broke off an May try to repair it myself. It does look like it has enough fixings to keep it secure without tbh

That one on the side is important though. The bottom 2 aren't so much. You'll see when you remove your current ones. The side and top one hold the light in place properly when tight. The bottom 2 are just for added support.
 
You may strugle to align the lights without the corner fastenings. As the previous poster has said, buy the repair kit from BMW, its the best and easiest option. Simply cut off the old bracket, screw on the new one and you're done!
