Front end Swap

Will a face lift front bumper cover fit an earlier model (in this case 2003 3.01)?

Clearly different fog lights are required. I believe the headlights are the same profile, but are the bonnet and wings?

Has this swap been done before?

Any challenges??

cj10jeeper you are a man who relishes a challenge :D

Best thing is to have a browse on http://www.realoem.com/bmw/ and have a look at the part numbers for the respective cars and see if they are any different.

I'm sure that it should just bolt on though. Trying to remember if anyone on Z4um did this, I know someone fitted the ///M bonnet at great expense, and maybe the bumber too, can't quite remember now.

That's a good site - ta. I'll see what I can come up with

Relish a challenge - for sure. Here's a Jeep before and after I 'breathed' on her... Turned an old USAF tug into a 6 litre trick off road rock crawler - but that's another story

I installed an aero bumper on my 06 Z4 with no problem. Got rid of the useless fog lamps as well. As far as I can tell, all the bumper covers are interchangable.

The only other cosmetic change I would like to do (but no plan thereof) is the hood (bonnet). The "M" version is much more aggressive IMO.

Have I said how much I love your ride Ducks? I've got the aero bumper and side sills too but haven't switched out the wheels yet. Thank goodness you're not in my area...

V nice, not sure about the 6 litre though, you go racing in it?

Nope you don't race something that cost that much time and effort (and money) to build. It's used mainly for rock crawling. It needs a V8 small block Chevy and special transfer cases to produce the torque and get it down at the wheels. I have another one for competition use.

Back to bumper covers - glad they fit as I've just picked one up on ebay.

Will let you know how it all goes once test fitted then resprayed

Don't suppose you happen to have those useless fog lamps lying around looking for a paying new home???

Shame - I may well soon have a pair of '03 that look like they'll fit the aero

A swap would have been easy

You guys are talking cross purpose here, right? isn't cj10jeeper asking you for your 2006 fog lights, Ducks?

You're right pvr I need '06 foglights, but had assumed from Ducks reply that they had gone. I'll have round one's spare soon that should fit the aero, so a sale or swap might be on

That's fine - I have a garage full of bits for current and former cars that I hang onto....

Found my full X5 exhaust system in the garage loft a few weeks back...lol

Well first test fit and the jobs a breeze. Just need to cut out the blanks for the headlight washer system and a respray. Add some '06 foglights and side reflectors and ready to fit:

Shame I have to put it on hold now for a couple of weeks while I do some real work....

Anyone know what the 2 small holes in the grill directly below the foglights are for? Part of the foglight mount?

Took the opportunity to mount a triple airhorn and compressor in the front os void as the OEM sounded light a strangled chicken.
