Front end paint and protect

I'm having a dilemma...

The front end of my z4mr has gone in for work because someone reversed into it.

It's all being done under her insurance, but I have asked about getting the front of the bonnet and the wings done at the same time. Usually it would be around £600 but seeing as they have the paint mixed they offered to do it for £350.

I want it venture sheilded which I've been quoted at £600... So in short £950 gets me a fresh front end and venture shield protected.

Yay or nay?

What bits are you having shielded? As with chipsaway its all down to the technician on the quality of work. The Z's shape may not suit it for the angles. I have had it on three of my previous cars and 95% I wouldn't have it again. On one car it didn't age well and on the nose went a cloudy brown colour and stone chips still happen and make the film look rough. I would rather put the money away and have the panels painted ever two years or so for the same outlay.

EDIT: Oh and make sure the paint has properly hardened otherwise if the film is ever removed the paint will come away with it! :o

When I had my TVR front end done (due to stone chips), Neither Venture Shield or Armourfend could guarantee that upon removal my paint wouldn't come off! Armourfend said that as it was a respray there was actually a higher chance that the paint may come off on removal. I just opted to leave it for the £500 they quoted me. 8 years on there are a few chips here and there, but as my car is silver it's not too bad.

The plastic bumpers on the BMWs are not as prone to stonechips as GRP, personally I'd save the cash, but do get the rest done up for the £350. Let the paint harden off for a few weeks before waxing and sealing though.

Getting more panels done while the sprayer is kitted up is a good idea. Save movey and you of course get a much better blend and matched finish.

In terms of the Armour Shield - I wouldn't waste the money. For the amount it costs you can have 2 complete nose cone resprays and have non of the downsides of films on the car.

I'd go with that as well. It's like making your paint look a bit pants to prevent it from looking a bit pants
