Front end damage

Had an accident... probably going to be my fault as I was turning right and went into the side of a taxi but let's leave it to the insurance.

Bumper the bumper is a mess. Mostly it looks like the step on the side of the taxi has bashed through the lower half. The grill and valence are dragging on the road.

What else in in that area?

Car runs fine. Drove 2 miles home no fluids lost. But the shut lines on the bonnet certainly are wrong. It's very close to drivers side.

If you're going to have an insurance claim against you for the taxi anyway, then you might as well get yours done through the insurance too - assuming you're fully comp of course.

That's a bummer  . Sounds more than just the bumper if the bonnet shut lines are out, get some photos up

As already said, the #1 thing is that you're OK. For the rest, that's what insurance is for.

Hope you get it all sorted quickly.

I'm amazed at how strong the front actually is.
In daylight there is no damage to wings or bonnet that I can see. No ripples or odd reflections. No damage to the lights ... Looks very much to me that the step step on the taxi did the damage and it's all just shuffled a bit. I recon the two deformable bit are bent but that's for the bodyshop. Bumper is a mess.

The taxi is much worse off. Huge dent to front door and side door which would barely shut.

I'll post some pics when the insurance is sorted. But direct line have been great so far. Easy on the phone. Just had the hire car company call and waiting now on the garage to phone to collect.

I was worried they would write it off at the end of the day it's a 04 plate and it's going to need the whole bumper. But the lady on the phone said based on the damage I'd described that it wasn't coming up as one yet .... might even be able to get the dent on the door fixed at the same time

It got collected today so let's hope the adjuster doesn't have a different opinion....

On a more humorous note the replacement hire car is a gem.... rear engined

Bit of a result getting a Porsche 911 as the hire car.

It certainly would be, but I suspect a Renault Twingo is more likely.

yup its only a twingo ... but have to say my 120mile commute at 5 am this morning was no worse in that than the Z. granted its 2L and 3 cylinders down but it still did 35mpg @70+/- 15mph, has cruise and uncomfortable steats. ony thing different was the DAB radio :D

its quite a rev happy fun little car
