Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has had issues similar to mine?
I noticed the ride quality of my car has deteriorated in the last month of so, with the ride being much more harder and crashier and when taking medium/high speed corners, the steering felt a bit squidgey. So I booked my car last week for a 4-wheel laser alignment. Having owned a E36 and E46 previously, I knew about the whole alignment issue and instead of paying £250 at the stealers for a KDS, I found an independent garage with the same Hunter alignment machinery BMW use.
After it was done, the technician told me he had adjusted everything apart from the front camber as he did not have the special BMW tool. He even gave me a printout from what looked like the BMW DIS of the tool needed. Car felt better afterwards, but still not 100% and has recently deteriorated again with the ride quality going completely out the window at motorway speeds.
So this morning, I phoned a BMW dealer to book the car in to have the front camber only adjusted, however I was told that the front camber cannot be adjusted on the Z4 and that they would have to inspect the vehicle instead to check if the suspension parts were worn. I took this to be a load of B.S. and declined them on their offer.
So I'm just looking for a bit of clarification... can the front camber be adjusted without having to resort to the special BMW tool? The only thing in the back of my mind is if the front bushes need replacing as I often had to with my 330ci. However my Z4 has only done 28,000 miles, although it is five years old and I would have thought doing the alignment check would be the first port of call before resorting to changing parts.
Any insight would be much appreciated!
