Front Bumper

Iv been thinking of changing my front bumper for something more aggressive looking. Now as i look around the net most of the sport type bumpers are for post facelift models..is there much modification required to fit a post facelift bumper to a pre facelift model?

No. is the simple answer. it's easy.

A few including me have done it.

Bumpers are easy and cheep to get post facelift fogs aren't cheep. Watch out for corrosion on 2nd hand ones.

I had to cut off some small plastic mounts. that was it.

Cj said when he did his he didn't have to do this so no idea when the mounts changed. it was easy anyway.

I was thinking of an after market one or one without fogs anyway..so maybe not be too bad.

Not seen many aftermarket bumpers for the Z4, with the possible exception of some ridiculously priced AC Schnitzer ones, there is hideous one doing the rounds on fleabay which would have you thrown off the forum if you fitted it.

Any links to the aftermarket ones?

Most people fit either the Aero Kit bumper which retains the front lamps or the Z4M bumper which loses the fog lamps.

There was an after market one in Japan i think. there were some images of it on here a long time ago.

Someone posted some photos recently of a cut and shut. top part was pre bottom part was post facelift.

From this thread.

And this is my own pre-facelift Zed fitted with an M Bumper that I picked up from a fellow forum member for £50 it then cost £180 for the respray and a further £100 or so for the brake ducts and brackets. so £330ish.

Keep an eye on ebay they do come from time to time.

If the Japenese bumper is the Gurt racing one it is 2 add on pieces fitted to the facelift bumper to ape the look of the M but work out the price they very expensive for they are and have cropped up on the forum a coupkle of times.

Very nice car Richard. All the mods I wish to put on mine (second pic). Like the wheels a lot! Am I right in thinking they are 19"? How is the ride with them?

Again thankyou, yes they are 19's and I would say the ride is better than the original 17's with RFT's fitted, and actually seems better since swapping to Vredestein tyres from Falken.

Is there any potential issue with having a front fog light switch but no lights for the MOT?

New rules and stories seem to do the rounds on the web so never know how true they really are.

You've just helped me with my wheel decision, thank you

Damn Richard that is one sexy car.. esp the wheels  :P

My car looks very similar to yours infact... M front, wheels, aero skirts, carbon badges... just in black

The black chrome lined lights and grill make it much more aggressive

Having just put the Zed through it's MOT last week which it passed without issue I hasten to add, no mention was made of the 'missing' foglights, no advisories, no nothing another clean bill of health for the year ahead.

Front fog lights are not a UK / MOT requirement so guess not
