Front bumper repair/respray

Hi guys,

Just bought my first Z, e85 3.0si in Titan Silver (354), with red leather, love it!

However, there’s a large area of stone chip damage on front offside and a small panel gap between bottom of light and bumper where it might have had a slight bump and plastic fixings broken.

I’m looking for a bodyshop to remove, repair, respray and re-fit in and around the Midlands area - does anyone have any recommendations and an idea of how much it might cost roughly?

Thanks for your expert advice!

Best regards,

George

To give you an idea on price i got the cracked and scuffed front bumper on my wifes MX5 repaired and repainted for £350.
Can`i help with a recommendation in your area as i am in Northern Ireland.

Mines is in similar condition due to a previous poor respray on the bumper.
I was quoted £400 but that included touching up a scratch on a front wing as well. Included removing the bumper but not replacing brackets if they broke.

Hi Barrie/Gerry,

Thanks both for your replies. Been quoted £250-£300 by various body shops now, so we’re all in the right ball park. Glad to know it’s not just mine that’s had some stone chips/bad previous owners!

Thanks again,

George

I'm in the same boat OP; my bumper badly needs a front-end respray with blending into the wings (someone hit the car whilst parked and my rattle-can quick fix isn't great) and I've been getting ridiculous quotes from bodyshops here in the London area. Thinking on waiting a few months until I move back up to Scotland and hopefully a shop will need some work then so I’ll be able to find a better price.

I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought of buying a high-miles car with decent Titan Silver panels just so I could swap them over onto my car and part out the rest of the car; my rear wings and sills could do with some attention also!

Parabolica, I’ll let you know how I get on with my £300 respray in the Midlands - if decent, you could always make the drive up!

I think £250-£300 sounds about right. My local BMW dealer quoted me £300 for a rear bumper re-spray on my previous BMW (though that included a small discount).

I payed 300 about 18 months ago for a front bumper respray in East Sussex, there was a lot of prep work needed as it hasn’t been keyed properly when the previous owner had it done and it needed the number plate plinth rivet holes filling.

I’d try and stick to the small reputable painters locally, I went to 4 different paint shops and got two quotes just shy of £1000, trouble is the bigger shops can charge insurance companies top dollar and buy full sets of clips that aren’t always needed and get it payed no questions asked.

I had my front number plate holder removed, bumper and wings resprayed and a rear spoiler painted and fitted for £350.
