Before i go undoing everything on the front bumper can anyone tell me how they would go about sorting the uneven gap between bumper and wing, the pic illustrates where the problem is.
Have read other posts on removing the bumper so no problem with that
Would appreciate your comments

Looks like it hasn't been clipped on the side of the car correctly - the bit of plastic underneath the black plastic divider shouldn't be visible

Agree with ran ski. Just had my bumper off to fit new lights and found it a little bit tricky trying to clip it in at either side due to the wee bits of coloured plastic. Not sure how successful it would be trying to sort it without loosening the bumper.

The problem you have is that the bumper clip is tired and doesnt hold the bumper up tight. Get a new pair from BMW (one each side)
When the bumper cover is off you can break off the old clip and put a new one in place.
Problem solved.

It's also possible that the bumper cover is damaged, but you won't know that until unclipped. Less likely though.

Hard to explain, but yes, the black plastic divider strip should be visible

- best bet is to unclip the side of the bumper, remove the pins/plugs from the wheel arch, then pull the side of the bumper off.

You will then see what needs to go where

Hi cj, sorry to be thick but what do you refer to when you say "bumper cover"

I do indeed as it's a cosmetic trim cover rather than the structural parts that are underneath

I'd also like to see a close up of the main 4 way gap between bonnet, bumper cove rand headlight as errors there lead to gaps all over the place.

Taken indoors so sorry about the quality.

Actually they're not bad, so i think your issue is confined to failed side clips.
Perhaps you could pull the top edge of the bumper cover back a little to close that gap.

Opens the bonnet, loosen the 5 torques on the metal clamp bar, push in the bumper's top edge a little at a time and test close bonnet, then lock down the torx.

The OS side of the bonnet could also be lowered by a fraction. Flash tells me it's too high, but you can test feel it.

I don't suppose you know the part number for these clips do you mate? I have had a look on real OEM and it is hard to figure out exactly what part is required?

I will be having my front bumper off soon (to complete my clear light mod) so I want to make sure it all goes back correctly...

Cheers cj, let you know how i get on.

Hi I have this same problem as the OP since I bout the car in oct, my question is does it matter that it's not pulled in tight or is it dangerous as the bumper is not held on right. Also do you thik I should go back to the garage main dealer to ask them to put it right or will they try and charge me. I didn't think much off it and not used the car much since buying it as its a week end toy and weathers not been great, but washing it today it is obvious and annoying.

I HATE these clips with a passion. They are very easy to break when you remove the bumper and they cost £25 each to replace and you can only get they from BMW!

Also even if they are fastened perfectly theres still quite a big gap, i've noticed it on every Z4 i've seen. It looks shocking compared to my mates RX8 which fits perfectly flush with the wing, just a very poor design by BMW.

Yep and when they break getting the remainder out is a frickin' nightmare (unless anyone has any tips on releasing them?).
I know BMW have a special tool to release them. One of the worst designs on the Z4 IMO.
