Front Brake Upgrade

It'll be a refund you get when you return the parts you take off your car. If you aren't replacing like for like then you'll probably fall foul of that and not get the core refund.

It's useful on parts like calipers where if you get a seized retaining bolt or stuck piston you can send them the dud part after the work and you get your £100 back as they will refurb your old part and sell it. Not so useful on upgrades.
Thanks, well at least it's not totally random. So probably there's nothing I can do except try and ebay the existing parts callipers/disks that have only done 15K?

Finally, I hope, the only matching brand pads I can get are HELLA - are these decent? £45 rear, and £46 front.....the TEXTAR and in fact any other matching seemed to front and not the back or vice versa.

I suggest you send the old calipers back, that will be the core charge and I'm sure they will process them!

If you ask it may be more complicated..

No just buy the bits specified it’s all bolt on using existing remaining parts
I wish the calliper carriers were the same , but they're not...new 339 carriers are needed too...oen34116769097 bah

I made the foolish mistake of omiting the carriers on the grounds normally the carrier and the caliper are a matched set from each manufacturer as they are designed to work with each other uniquely..they may work when mixed but that's not recomended..certainly as I stated (After the event) that you need the relevant sized caliper to work with a 330mm disc.. apologies for that explict lack of clarity

No worries, if its any consolation, a short story..

A long time I had a neighbour 'Sebastian' who had a Hillman Imp..

Alloy engine, overhead cam notorious for cooling issues..blew a head gasket..

He'd seem me rebuild a Mark 1 Escort for a friend with a blown engine..

Talked him through the process..very studious took notes..I kept popping across to see progress..

All looking good then he came across worried..

One of the camshaft bearing bolts that held the cams in the head had snapped

Tears in his eyes he pointed to his meticulous use of the torque wrench as he had undertsood my dire warnings about warping the head etc

We then saw the issue..instead on tightening down to 110 inch pounds he had tried to tighten to 110 foot pounds..

I've never seen cast /machined alloy flow like plastecine..

So as they say measure twice cut once..

Big of you to fess up..I would have sat down by a quiet river and cried..

I may still cry if I can't get reasonably priced carriers...so far looking like another 400 quids booooo

Well these bad boys to be fitted to my mapped E89 next Saturday....anyone know the colour used on these calipers as some say Phoenix Yellow and some say Meridian Gold? I want to try and get the rears painted to match these.
