Front Brake Binding

Ive just taken the wheels off my car one at a time to clean them and just to check the pads and no broken rear springs etc.

When I came to nip up one of the front wheels I noticed that the wheel didn't spin when the car was jacked up. So i took the wheel off again and tried to free up the caliper but when I put the wheel back on and took the car for a 2 min drive to check it the brake started binding again.

Has anybody any idea of what the problem could be?

I dont think the brake was binding before I jacked the car up which is why im a bit confused as to what could of caused the problem.

Any advise would be appreciated, thanks.

Had this on mine ,recently, was told by 2 difrnt garages that it was the 1. The Calipers sticking, and it had caused damage to relatively new discs(front).while the 2nd garage said the discs had been fitted incorrectly, and have now been skimmed. this helped for a few weeks, but binding noise/brake judder is coming back already. now having to renew front discs for a 2nd time in 1yr,and also getting new calipers fitted in due course(refurbed ones with 2yr warranty),so will let u know how i get on......just waiting for delivery of new discs in the next week or 2 :D
So i would def see about getting your calipers checked again?

Cheers Craig, think I might take to a local garage on monday.

Just cant understand how they can just start binding all of a sudden when they weren't before. And the reason I don't think they were binding before is because when I discovered the problem I went for a short drive and the car definitely felt different making me think that jacking the car up had affected the brakes in someway which doesn't add up at all. :(

Mine just started doing it,and i was advised (wrongly),that my calipers were ok,when they had been binding/sticking,causing excess heat build up,and the garage had said they had cleaned up my calipers when they had renewed my front discs and pads(which needed replaced anyway).
so maybe just a coincidence that they have started binding, but yes,def worth having calipers looked at.

ps:if u are told u need new calipers, look at brakes international. refurbed pair of front calipers(budweg/ate) from £100-£140 a pair, depending on model/eng/age,and come with a 2yr/24000mile warranty,as oppose to £80 on ebay for 2nd hand=no wrnty, plus u can get upto £40 per pair back,if u send them ur old calipers back to them after getting new ones ftd,so a good deal/given BMW ask for £114 per Caliperx2 = £228!!
Hope thats some use to you, cheers

Thanks again craig, thats really useful to know

Im gonna take it to the garage tomorrow and see what they say about it.
