front ball joints?

anyone know whether the lower arm outer ball joints can be replaced seperatly or it is just a complete lower arm replacment?

Ive checked ebay and there only seems to be arms

Mine needs both front ball joints replacing, gona be an expensive job if its a complete arm :(

Believe it's supplied as a complete arm, only the lollypops on the rear are a separately servicable item
 
I think my front end is due a freshen up, I've been looking around and these get good feedback:

You can replace ball joints separately but remember there are two ball joints on each front arm.
Also the bushings are extremely hard to remove separately from the arm without a tool so you will just have to unbolt them.
But remember that you will have to replace both ball joints on the arm. When you take the arm off most likely you will rip the boot or compromis the integrity of the ball joint. Bushings also do not last that long either so you might as well do the entire arm along with the bushings if your EOLC has arrived. The ball joint is usually 2 life cycles of the bushings anyway so I'm assuming you've already replaced the bushings once already.

those sound quite good but im thinking most non genuine arms are going to be made similar to each other. where are you getting the reviews from? Im trying to message a few people on ebay & find out who makes their arms. I only want to by a pair of arms from a company ive heard of and know aint crap! I dont want to be fitting a pair of arms & my tracking being out or them snapping etc
 
You'll need to get the tracking done regardless of brand.

From lots of googling, they have a good rep and 4yr warranty.

removing the lower arms wont effect the geometry of the car as theres no adjustment with them. Its a simple unbolt and bolt back on

a 4 year warranty is pretty good! can see myself purchasing some very shortly
 
Meyle are top notch, better than OEM arms. I think in fact they are an OEM supplier for some parts. At least here in the U.S. I've used Dorman in the past which are very inexpensive and never had an issue. When bushings went, ball joints were good so just swapped bushings. Put 100,000 U.S. miles on the actual arm and still fine. E85 and E46 parts are identical so you could also search for E46 arms. i would stay away from the poly bushings. Also they''re easy swaps and last I heard the ride is extremely rough. But until i try it's just heresay
