My VO 35is was coming up to three years old this July and I spotted a new (Pre-Reg March 16 5 miles on the clock) 35is at Sytner Nottingham in late April. Same colour - similar spec - few quid a month more. Decided to make the change as the 35is ticked all the boxes! To cut a very long story short, I was unhappy with the car on collection as I'd agreed the deal without seeing the car (it was brand new) as the car hadn't been prepared as well as expected. Having brought it home to Bolton the Comfort Access was found to have a fault. The result being the 35is was collected and a 420D M Sport convertible left in its place whilst matters resolved.
Several weeks later and the required part for the Comfort Access had still not arrived. Decision made to reject the car but problem being my old 35is had gone having been sold within a few days. To cut another very long story short, with help from Sytner and BMW Customer Service (who were brilliant) and due to me being impressed with the 4 Series Convertible, I found that Sytner Nottingham had a new (Reg'd May 16 - delivery miles) 440i M Sport with lots of additions (Head Up Display - Heated Everything - Harman Kardon HI-Fi - etc ..) and was able to agree a deal that essentially meant we were all reasonably happy.
Picked the 440i up on Wednesday the 15th June. Friday 17th on the ferry from Hull and then a three day drive over the Alps and Italian Lakes to Florence. After a week in Tuscany, there was then a drive back across the South of France returning to the UK on Friday 1st July. The 440i is well and truly run in after the trip and the performance, economy and general overall "drive" of the car is very impressive. Plus, there was a lot more space for the French wine! I miss my 35is as it truly was/is an impressive car. However, the 440i gives me a similar smile when pushed as the sound of the 6 cylinder and the pops of the exhaust are not far behind that of the Z.
Pretty sure I'll be back in a Z4 at some point and will remain an interested member of the Forum. I'll also try and still get along to the North West Meets as long as you don't mind I'm not in a Z!

*If anyone's interested I plan to sell my E89 BMW Fitted Car Cover - a set of BMW 35is Floor Mats which are like new as only used for a couple of weeks and a BMW Z4 Key Ring in a case. I'll advertise the items in the Buy & Sell over the coming days and provide photos.
