Fresno,San Francisco, and SLO

We follow a band and will be in Fresno on Friday Dec. 7 and in San francisco on Sat. Dec. 8 and in SLO Sun. Dec. 9.

If anyone would like to stop by I will buy the first round.

Friday durning the day we will be exploring route 180 on the way to Fresno. On Saturday we will explore route 41,120 and 108, they call the 108 the small Dragon and there is a covered bridge at Knight's Ferry. Anyone have a route from San Francisco to Slo. If anyone would like to get to gether let me know.

I have plans for Dec 8th in the evening. Actually I am double booked. I've been interested in covered bridges. There are quite a few in the area.

I'd like to hook up for part of the portion to SLO and would probably be in the Salinas area early Sunday. If you want to make the drive long and Scenic you can do Hwy 1, but i have to warn you its a lot of turns and one lane in each direction, but gorgeous as it is right along the coast. It comes out in Cambria which is near SLO.

What time on Sunday will you be headed south? We will be coming from San Francisco and could meet up on our way south depending on the timming. Have any roads you would like to share between the two points? :D
 
Well, I'm sure Yal or Vroomer will chime in here at some point.

Hwy 1 is great......depends on if you like turns and one lane, but it offers great views of the ocean, straight down. You can take Hwy 1 from one end of Golden Gate Park clear down through Santa Cruz and meet me in Monterey.

We could drive down Hwy 1 to Cambria then 46 which runs to SLO. If you don't want to go down Hwy 1 (the turns can get tedious)there is always boring 101.

There is a gorgeous drive in the spring time great wildflowers but it would be difficult to hook us together if we did it now. Its shooting down 101 to Holister and Hwy 25 through Pinnacles and join back on Hwy 101 in King City.
 
What time would you want to meet in Monterey?

We love the 1 on the coast. Turns are prefered. I don't understand the one lane thing? I guess they might be working on the road and only have one lane available?
Have you ever driven the G18, G14, and G16 instead of the 101?
 
I meant one lane in each direction on hwy 1.

Just spoke to my monterey friend...actually known as my corvette friend(he races corvettes at laguna seca in Monterey). Says that Hwy 1 is very curvy and slow and can be quite tedious unless you really like turns. Once you get past Carmel there is not ANY opportunity to hook up to 101 until Cambria. He mentioned Carmel Valley road as being a possibility. He grew up in that area, and knows it well so we could pick his brain. Weather could be a factor in determining the course as well.

If we meet for a late breakfast/early lunch then we could eat and talk about what would be good to do.

Never heard of G anything....help..VROOMER. Oh, he has his parents visiting...lots of help he will be. I'll try to remember to ask mr. corvette.
 
Those are county roads, i'd have to look them up. I used to go down 101 to greenfield, then cut in towards the coast and come out on carmel valley road. kind of a long way to nowhere.

We will be doing a good bit of that as well.

What is the latest time you would want to leave Monterey? How much time do you think it would take to get from Francisco to Monterey on the 101? I was thinking about 1.5 hours?
 
Leave Monterey for a drive on Hwy 1 - would want to start by about 11 at the very latest. I'll turn back after a few hours on Hwy 1. I'd still have to get back to Mountain View. I believe there is a place to stop and grab something, I know there is a nice resort area there, but my friend may know. 101 is about 3 hours to SLO, Hwy 1 would be a lot longer, so I would not be able to make it all the way and back home that day even if i did Hwy 1 down and 101 back.

Probably a bit longer from SF to Monterey.....closer to 2 hours.

I'm on call for December, so my drives are limited to 30 minutes away from my computer
 
it gets worse, I now have a coolant leak. Time to test the after market warranty.
 
you bouht a warranty other then the bmw? tell us how it is, heard that mentioned in another thread, but never before.

you've have a rough couple of months car wise. hope you get this one fixed to your satisfaction.

I fixed the air pump myself, reset the code and that's fine. I bought the car used and not from a dealer AND out of warranty AND with over 50K on it, so there was no hope of a BMW warranty. If I had a usable garage (my car barely fits the garage with nothing in it) i'd have it up on stands right now being looked at by me, but I just don't have the facilities right now.
 
i just hit 50K this weekend in fact. Only thing is my tire warning light came on again......I'll put more air in it and then take it in to patch again.....sheesh, i hope they can fix it. Or my christmas present will be a set of new tires.

Bob, are you bringing Ginger? I have a request to model it.

Do you realize that after this coming weekend,I will be the only person on this board that has met Socalsizzle, F_N_I, and yourself. :roll: I'm just lucky I guess. :oops:
