Freezing windows

Hi guys any tips on stopping my windows sticking to my roof on my 2012 e89, apart from the obvious ones like car covers. I just don't want to damage it by pulling on it when it's frozen

I have recently bought Gummi Pgledge Stift which was recommended on the forum.
Not tried it yet as the car is stored in the garage,

I have used Swissvax seal feed this year and what a difference it has made. Pricey yes, but worth every penny in my opinion.

Tried the Gummi stick last year and didn't really make that much of a difference, although the windows didn't stick as bad with the gummi pfledge they still stuck a bit. Not had that issue with the Swiss vax.

Einszett went bust last year after a big fire at their factory. They tried restarting but I think the owner lost the will for the struggle.

Some employees have now taken over some of the products and formulations and have started Nextzett.

When Einszett went bust I bought a huge stock of Raindance and Hartglanz on clearance. I am still relieved both are back in manufacture now.

And Gummi Pflege Stift is also back

Biggest issue is the seals where the window enters the door and not the roof seals. Water freezes here and won't allow the windows to drop.

Yeh that's my issue, window stick a bit but the window won't drop, think I will try the wax thanks guys and keep a bottle of luke warm water handy to try and defrost it

Yeah, luke-warm water sounds like a good back-up plan! :lol:

Thankfully my Z4 gets the sun on it on those clear cold days, and luckily I don't need to go out early. :lol:

My car lives in a garage but when I have had to leave a convertible outside I've always used a car cover. Keeps the weather and cats off the soft top. Given that the E89 has such a complicated roof mechanism I would always keep it under a cover, especially in the winter. Water getting into gaps between panels and seals then freezing! Not good. Also makes de-icing unnecessary.

You could try using night before de-icer like this. I use it on the wife's Volvo - she usually leaves for work around 05:00 so the car is pretty icy, but this stuff works well on the windows.

Any treatment applied to the window seal where it enters the door will leave bad smears on each side of the glass when the window is lowered. These seals are felt lined and it's this that causes the freeze and also holds any treatment that will cause smears.

Yes as per my earlier post on this thread it is because I use Swiss Vax Seal feed.
