Free PPI Search Service

Hi all,

I received some bumf through the post today from a company called FindMyClaims offering to trace any old PPI policies for free and if any are found they claim on your behalf etc. If a claim is successful they take a cut of 25% plus VAT from any monies awarded. They guarantee not to charge a penny unless a claim is successful.

Is this worth pursuing or is there a catch. No nothing about this sort of thing but I have had PPI s in the past on various loans over the past 30 years.

Tim.

All you need to do is contact every lendor you have dealt with and they do all the work for you.

Then you get 100% of the money.

Your literally throwing away 25% plus vat for less than an hours work.

I did a online nationwide ppi form in less than 15 minutes for example. Then they email you with the result within x days.

Hi tim, if you know who the loans were from there are template letters you can use which won't cost you a penny-I know Martin Lewis (martins money tips) advocates them

Thanks guys, I can't remember who I've had in the past for PPIs, mainly Barclays so might start with them first.

Tim.

There are companies who offer no obligation ppi reports, so take them up on it, get the report and say bye bye to them and use the Martin Lewis template letters

I work in PPI, on the other bank side. Claims Management Companies are parasites. They do nothing a person cant do themselves more quickly and with a better chance of getting a refund. The CMCs just throw the exact same complaints into the banks, just changing the customer names and see what sticks. About 80% get thrown straight back out as there was no PPI.

There is no point in anyone trying to defend bank behaviour in selling PPI as it was shady as hell but the CMCs really do take the biscuit when it comes to offering no value for money.

My Wife did a PPI search for me....
- She pulled down my eye-lid to see if I had anything in there, then fished it out with the corner of her hanky : :?

Sorry

i got hit by a ppi company saying 25% fee

check the small print
25% plus vat

then, if you get no results with that company, yet say you do it yourself, and you get a result, the PPi company have rights to make theyr 25% plus vat claim, even though they may have closed the case!!!

They can also charge you for :
phone calls
letters to you
letters to the bank/ building society

this is where they say YOU dont / didnt provide enough info so they had to do it for you.

I had in excess of 56% of my claim taken from me
And no, i had already:
started the claim myself (then foolishly got a ppi company to help gee up the claim)
so was aware of what i was likely to get, until PPI swooped in with small print.

DO IT YOURSELF ITS EASY

If anyone ever wants to stick in a PPI claim with their bank and want advice just hit me up with a PM.

here is the first thing to know though- dont just make wild and potentially untrue claims right off the bat.
Write (dont call) to your bank and ask them to tell you what accounts / loans / credit cards you have had over the years with ppi, without pitching it as a complaint, going back to the start of their records. It might take a while to get an answer to this request for information (not a complaint) but dont worry - if you have a valid claim the longer it takes to get settled the more interest you are earning.

basically you are getting the bank to tell you everything they know about you and PPI without tipping your hand.

my charge - no fee.
