'Free' charity stuff through the post

The couple of christmas cards, pens, place mats etc they send to get you to send them money.
What do you do with it? Bin it, use them without sending a donation, use them and send a donation, what?
I support charities but I never know what to do with them if I'm not going to send them any money so I usually end up binning them as I'd feel guilty to use them and not send any money. Is it just me?

They go with all other unsolicited junk mail - in the bin... I don't like the idea that, if I send them money, they'll just use it to send out more unsolicited junk mail

Another questionable practice is chugging, two or three times a week I have to run the gauntlet of the chuggers wanting me to stop and answer a couple of quick questions... which leads to 'strong' requests for donations

I should say that I do give money to charities, but I refuse to be 'guilt-tripped' into doing so.

Presumably with a little love note written inside an Oxfam card with the 'Merry Christmas' crossed out :lol:

That's good I could do with some pens. You put a pen down in the NHS you will never see it again, ever.

:lol: I'm going to start using the stuff I get then. I won't feel so guilty.
 
We get quite a lot, along with those plastic bags asking for donations. Hate the guilt tripping thing, as I do quite a bit for the charities I choose to support already inc. making 20 dresses already this year for Dress A Girl Around The World.
The biggest culprit when it comes to guilt tripping by sending unsolicited goods are the British Heart Foundation and the Red Cross.
