Now had my Z4 for four months and my initial thoughts are;
For ,
Great 6 cylinder engine, smooth, powerful and great sound.
Unless it's raining, I have the hood down all the time.
Looks great, I get many compliments, more than my previous ride, a comparatively rare Porsche 968 Sport.
Against,
Very twitchy on the road, especially when pressing on.
Tinny doors, I get embarrassed when slamming them shut.
The steering "feel" is poor, and feedback non existent.

Overall I am very pleased with the car, and intend spending a bit of cash to address some of the issues mentioned.

Sounds like you've been having some fun. If it's twitchy I'm guessing you've still got runflats. You really need to change them for normal tyres. The improvement is unbelievable. Just do a search on here for ditching runflats.

Agree with all 3 of your 'againsts' although suspect 2 of the 3 will be solved by getting off the RFTs.

I know what you mean about the doors! Last car I had that made that sort of noise when I shut the doors was a kit car! Thankfully that is the only similarity.

You still got the 968 Sport? Great cars and possibly on the verge of appreciating...certainly the (even rarer) Club Sports are...

The tinny doors are easily fixed with some sound deadening... My facelift doors give a very reassuring thud (but they are very heavy compared to say a golf/ focus)

Yes run flats are cr4p, i have just had all my wheels reconditiond and they lent me some wheels off a 3 seres with normal tyres on, but i didn't think they seamed that much better, a little less twitchie yes but ride felt spongy and the flat tyre light was on, they might have been cheap tyres! Have allso just put Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Springs on and thay are lots better than standard springs, isn't a Porsche 968 just an old ugle Porsche 944 with out pop ups??? :poke:

First thing I did was change to proper tyres which improved things a bit, but still a wrestling match at speed. The car just doesn't feel planted. Due for it's mot in August so having the suspension checked out including tracking. 968s are not upgraded 944s, however the prices are going the same way unless immaculate Club Sports with under 50k on the clock. They are on the up, anything up to £22,000,but what's the point in owning one if putting miles on it reduces it's value.

Update.
The car went to Grosvenor today to have the handling sorted. The rear anti roll bar link was bust, and I had new polyurethane brake reaction bushes fitted, followed by 4 wheel laser alignment. Totally transformed the car, and what an enthusiastic and knowledgeable bunch they are at this Indy. Well worth the £300 odd it cost. Now one less niggle with the car. Off to get some sound deadening material for the doors tomorrow.

Congratulations on getting it sorted. I didn't think the Z is remotely twitchy, ive had it upto 155mph and felt planted.
