Four Days running 98+ Octane....

Shell V Power @ 98p litre = 56 litres to a tank = 12.3 gallons approx divide into 350 miles = just over 28mpg to a tank.

The same equation based on someone getting 225miles to a tank is a return of 18mpg! :o Either the mixture setting is wrong, or they constantly drive like a hooligan.

Zed_Steve, I think the older pre-facelift 3.0 can be prone to being much thirstier than the Si engine.

I used to get 22-23 mpg out of mine, mostly town driving to be fair, but using the throttle lightly never made much difference.

I take your point Mike, if most of your driving was around town your returns seem about right. Much better than 18mpg.
I had a Z3 2.8 and averaged 30, on a run mid to late 30's. Even when pushing it it never went below 25.

I get 12mpg on the track, 18mpg around town (no more than 40mph), 23mpg of mixed driving, and 28mpg of DC & motorways (usually sit at above 80mph).

Highest I've had was 48mpg and that was over the space of about 2 miles on a 40mph DC in 6th until I had to stop for a set of lights which, when they went green, dropped the figure back to 21mpg within 10 yards
