Four days left

Hello everyone

I've got four days left with my Z4. The last 2.5 years have sped by, and I rue not spending more time with the roof down. I'll miss the mad noise. I'm sad that I have never been 'spotted'. I hope my little black '35is' finds a nice new owner.

I've been lured away from my Z by the wicked temptation of a new 6 Series Gran Coupe. I've swapped the dirty-pain of Black Sapphire for Space Grey. Two red seats for four black ones. Twitchiness for calm. Sexy looks for sexy looks. 25mpg for 16 mpg....

My Christmas present arrives in a few days and I feel a bit dirty - like I am cheating on my Z. Hopefully her next keeper will join Z4-Forum and love her as much as I do. Advice to new keeper - Launch Control is epic and even though on paper a TTRS is faster to 60 - you'll win in the real world. Especially from the lights at the start of the M602... Just keep your foot in.

My Z has been squeak free (since I lubed to every moving part with oil), rattle free, fault free, used virtually no oil, loves all weathers, cracked wheel free - in fact has been the least hassle car I have ever owned. My only gripe - I never really got used to the "I'm going to kill you" handling when driven at or beyond my maximum ability. In the end I tended to cruise rather than blast. New owner - don't do overboost in the wet....

I'll still wave at (and be ignored by) other Z4 drivers. I need to practice looking aloof should I see another 6GC.

Chutters.

did you have a forum window sticker? that may be why you never got spotted

good luck with new motor

6 series coupe? Sounds great!

I often have yearnings for something bigger, quieter and altogether more comfortable. I will probably change my zed next year and may go the same route.

Let us know how you like the new one!

lol tempted by the very thing I was... but I backed off in the end when I realised the true cost of such an expensive motor. It is a very lovely car and epically fast. As it is, I've bonded with my (previously PITA) e89 and the money for a new car will be going into paying off the mortgage and pumping up the retirement fund :) I'll keep an eye out for you as there aren't many GC's in Manchester. Though I've not seen another black e89 either. Just a few white/blue ones in 20i/23i guise now and then.

Enjoy it, they had a M6 with power upgrade in my local dealer looked very nice but the £104k otr price tag was just beyond me.... :(

I'm regularly stuck on the M60 car park between Stockport and Stretford most mornings. It is the 20i, but at least its black!

Hello

Just taken my Zed for her last clean before I say goodbye tomorrow. I would't have wanted to hand her over looking in a state.

Taz - I didn't know that I needed a sticker to make it onto the 'spotted' page. I thought that waving at all other Zeds, parking near (but not next to!) others and making a lot of noise while zipping about would have been enough. I would have thought that being out and about for 27,000 miles in 2.5 years might have gotten me seen at least once!! Especially at the start when 'is' Zeds were really rare! Come to think of it, they still are. I have only ever seen one other and that was in the dealership...

Maniac - I haven't seen another black Z in Manchester. I predict that I will see you as soon as I am in the 6 and incognito... As to paying off the mortgage - done it, and retirement fund - I decided to live for the moment and enjoy now!

I am hoping that the leap from a roadster to a barge will be smooth.

The good news for everyone is that as soon as I hand my Zed over, I predict that the sun will come out for months and it will be perfect roof-down weather for all of you. All the best to everyone on Z4-Forum!
