Forum members z4m comes in for the WORKS..... Track pack PPFM- Video added on final page

its taken me a while to find the time to get the video done! But its done!!

to recap the car had a track pack PPF , this era was the start of mainstream PPF so, what patterns are available are pretty basic and not great BUT...... with a fair amount of experience with trying to make BETTER patterns for this car i was able to get a good standard of coverage for this clients z4m. perfect?? no, its not, but its very good and the car protected. The manufacturer is not interested in repatterning the car due to the cost / time involved so .... i set about trying to make them better myself. This car made the install even more difficult with its aftermarket paint job as ive seen all to often poor paint jobs making it near impossible to install.

ive since had a few clients come to me where they have been elsewhere and the fitters have aborted the job midway.

its a long one but....... im sure the forum will enjoy! i'm not a youtuber just a fella that loves his job and loves documenting what we do.

Looks great Byron, I wish I’d asked you to do this to mine before I shipped it to Aus. It needs a full paint correction, new screen and PPF, but everything here is crazy expensive.

its a good one :) Patience of a saint with PPF . Do you ever throw the squeegee across the room when it wont go the way you want it ?

its extremely testing.... lol but i just LOVE it........ i used to get pretty stressed but now days not often, i will have a lil moan and then get on with it. The difficult part is knowing when to stop and let it be, it will never be perfect, so the balance of neatness, longevity and customer education is very important.

Thanks for the comments btw...... editing 25 hours of footage is never easy especially when the shop is so busy!

I've just had my bumper done with Suntek Reaction, and as it has a little bubble near the headlight sprayer it's going back in the spring to be redone FOC with a slightly updated pattern

tricky area here as the film wants to bunch, as mentioned these are pretty much the start of PPF patterns at this era so they need some fettling, mine own car is FAR from perfect but NEAT.

The new patterns from todays world are unreal.

suntek reaction is ACE!! You will really enjoy the benefit of having PPF. Great choice flimper

Having once again spent far too long for just a semi-decent correction, ppf is starting to sound better and better. If/as/when I decide to do it, you can have the (dis)pleasure of correcting the black paint and doing the ppf

Because of the bloody colour, I also started mulling over a Sepang respray as ruby black is such a pita to maintain.

I missed this comment buddy apologies, let me tell you black cars to PPF are hell.... Every single piece of dust shows up, no PPF is perfect but black cars are enough to make you want to give up the job all together 🤣.

No worries :) Seems there’s no free lunches with black cars!

I think I’m going to just embrace patina. Besides, old black muscle cars look awesome when they’re a bit worn-in so I figure the same might one day apply to these Z4s!
