For sale, 108s

I have a set of 108's going.

I will be looking for about £500

I am based in Leeds so happy to have a buyer pick-up, but would be happy to post at the buyers expense (£75 to anywhere in mainland Britain?!)


They are currently being refurbished, but the final finish is a work in progress.

I'm planning on a nice silver for the middles and insides of the drum, then leaving the actual exterior lip as straight polished aluminium finish, which can then be easily maintained.

However, these will be sold and so the final finish is up to prospective buyers I suppose. I am happy to get the lips polished (smooth, not grooved, too expensive hehe) and then clear coat them, but like BMW I can't offer a warranty on how long that will last.

So it's painted silver, bare, or polish/lacquer.


If anyone is interested then let me know... I will continue working forward with my plan (as original as possible, but with maintenance of the finish in mind) unless anyone makes a fairly firm commitment to them.

Anyone asking for pink 108's will be ignored unless they provide a non-refundable deposit

Just out of interest Dave how much is the refurb costing on the 108's and who is doing it? I work in Leeds and want my 108s doing too

I have one wheel currently being dipped/blasted at Midas Touch in Castleford.

I'll post a little WIP thread to show the intermediate steps/cost and then hopefully it'll give other people ideas on quality/cost. These 108 wheels are a real pain in my view. There is no wonder-fix... anything you do WILL be a compromise

I think I'll go pick it up later today, at which stage I'll be getting an ally polishing bar/mop and polishing the entire drum and seeing what it comes out like. At that stage I might buy some specific lacquer for over polished aluminium and give it loads and loads of coats so it's very thick...
Then I might just get the centres powder-coated in silver... but I've never really been fully sold on powder-coating. Even the fanciest 'silver' finishes still don't look like a bog-standard wet-painted silver, lacking depth and quality of reflections... so I might actually get the centres re-wet painted somewhere, hopefully I can find somewhere that will do a good price for just the four centres!


A bit of a task, but basically I want to avoid the labour costs most places charge for doing what is relatively easy work (screwing screws in and out hehe), and also avoid powder coat finishes because in my experience they are poor at best. If any powder coating business out there wants to prove otherwise, please contact me, but I won't be paying until I am 100% satisfied (ie, never hehe)
