Times have change, does 'Geeza pint o heavy', not apply anymore?
I know mate; bunch of wusses on car forums these days. If I can't pronounce the name of beer, I definitely ain't buying it.

Surely you would only drink Guinness, anyway (made with waaater from de river Liffey)? :poke: :D

Madri is an interesting one. It’s brewed by Molson Coors who own the Carling brand. There is an old rumour that Madri is actually the old Carlsberg Black Label recipe after Molson Coors suffered a marketing backlash due to the under reporting the actual ABV. It ended in a court case but basically there is an allowed tolerance of 0.5% so for example a 4.6% beer could be as low as 4.1% and still be legally advertised as being 4.6% So Molson Coors brewed it deliberately to to the lowest ABV they legally could to reduce the duty they had to pay on it.
Allegedly.

There is no allegedly about it. It was admitted in court that Carling is made to 3.7% ABV and duty paid according to 3.7% ABV.

The cans still say 4% ABV as they know if they dropped the label to 3.7% it would kill sales.

They don't need the 0.5% tolerance as they can control the ABV very accurately. Actually knowingly making the lager weaker than the label is wrong even if it does fall within their allowable tolerance.

Oh come on, John, that is an Irish surname if ever I saw one.
But yeah, I just can't get to grips with this PC word, apparently. Ask my daughter, she will tell you. :)

You're right, my last name is Irish, but I was born and raised in Edinburgh and I miss a pint of heavy or McEwans Export.
