Fog lights and upgrade to M front bumper

Hey,
I'd like to upgrade my Z4 (2003) with the M front bumper. Since I have the standard bumper with the fog lights I'm aware that the fog lights become obsolete. but how did you sort this out?
of course i can unplug them but i do realize that the rear fog lights do only work when i turn on the front fog lights!
in germany, we are obliged to have the rear fogs working therefore I'd be happy whether there are some ideas in order to get this sorted. cheers, nahodo

there are seperate buttons for the rear and front fogs lights, so if you swap over your front bumper for a M bumper and tape off the front fog wires, the rear fogs will surely still work?

yes, there are two buttons - but check it out in your car, the rear one only works after you switched on the front ones = it is not possible to have the rear fog lights working without having the front fog lights running as well !

Probably not the answer you are looking for, but as there is plenty room behind the bumper I simply left the lamps in the holders and cable tied everything out of the way, no error lights displayed on the dash as the lamps are still present and functional behind the bumper, this enables the rear fog to still operate and no messing about with resistors or re-programming the LCM.
Have yet to check if there is any stray light when they are activated.

hmm.. yes that was the solution i'll opt for if there is no better one. i was looking into the lcm, i didn't find an option to deactivate it software wise...
any other experience with the fog issue?

Only thing left at the moment is the Quad Exhaust system and modified M Rear Bumper, just need to earn some money to pay for it all once I decide exactly how I'm going to do the exhaust.

Could one not remove the fog lights and place a resistor that makes the car think that the lights are still there as they do for LED conversions?

Steve

well, will check options and report it here.

today, my bumper arrived, will bring it to the body shop tomorrow to have it resprayed in sterling grey :driving:

jepp, just got it from ebay. is in a fair condition but since I need to respray anyway i don't really care about scratches etc.
brake ducts, mounting staff is also ordered and i how to have all items ready next week to install the bumper!

basically, there is no check control for the front fog lights. therefore you can remove them safely.
but my concern is that rear fogs doesn't work without the front fogs.
