Fog Light Light

Hi,

I noticed this morning that one of my fog lights was not working... and not because of a light on my dash... i saw a reflection of the front of the car and noticed the bulb was gone.

Why would the indicator light not show on my dash... could it be more than just the bulb maybe?
 
Does it flag up if the fog light bulb isn't working?

One of my number plate lights has died but I don't have a dash light on.
 
I've replaced a fog light before and i'm sure there was a light on the dash... but could be wrong.

I wouldn't have thought that the number plate light would trigger a dash light as it's seen as a minor light :-)
 
I thought any external bulb out triggered the warning light ? Sidelights did on my last car, and they are arguably lesser lights than either fogs or number plate... The latter because a number plate light out is an MOT fail. Weird you're not getting a warning...
 
forglights are not on the canbus so wont trigger a light out.

I have had mine bagged in the bumper for over 3 years now since i got my M front! :lol:
 
Thanks, am I better turning the wheel out away form the arch or turning it into the arch to replace it?

My pre-facelift has no fogs due to the m bumper and doesn't light up the dash.

Funnily enough, my rear left sidelight isn't working and the dash light has come on. Typical!

Or if your feeling like it and can just jack it up and take off the wheel entirely, that's what I did in my old zed when I had to change the main bulb in the headlight housing.

Sidelights you must have hence all new cars have em. Front fogs not mandatory, loads of cars don't even have them fitted.
 
I've just been into Halfords and they said they don't (and never did) stick fog lights (bulbs) for the Z4, and that I would need to order then direct from BMW. I'm 100% sure that I got them before from there.

Can anyone clarify this, or recommend a bulb, thanks in advance.
 
What bulb is it? It won't be z4 specific. Another car will use them.

H11 maybe.

Just go in there and get the bulb.

I'm not sure what bulb it is, other than it is the bottom left here :-)

My front right fog light had been missing for a good 2 years till the day I sold my zed :rofl: just never noticed until about 2 days before it was sold and left my hands. It was just missing the actual bulb its self :lol:
