Focus RS Configurator details on FordUK

Was checking out Focus ST details and noticed that the Focus RS details are available for playing with.

Interesting as for about £32K roughly same as GolfR and CTypeR, you get a fully loaded RS goodies including recaro shell backed seats, nav, turning xenons and sunroof too. Obviously you get 4x4, variable dampers, 350hp plus and manual 6spd with launch control (interesting feature) and OMG - a heated windscreen.

So what's not to like, looks nice and stealthy in poverty grey or black.

Not sure when they are actually due for release but going on paper spec this is surely gets near top of the mega hatch list.
Not normally a blue oval fan, but really looking forward to this

Yep

I have seen this .. and they have a reserve list until Oct 8th for a Feb delivery, I am thinking about getting one but not 100% sure yet .. still pondering.

I have a test drive booked for end of Oct as this will be the only time a car will be available .. but not sure about the back though

regards

I tried the configurator last week and it kept locking up and was very slow to respond so gave up, I imagine its getting alot of hits. Always liked the Focus its about the only Ford I do but the interior is still a bit too naff and cheap for me, the vertical airvents really look odd like they ran out if space so rotated them around, looks very irritating lol. No denying its alot of car for the money though, 32Kish fully specced. Pity there is no silver as the other choices are a little too dark bar white or blue for which the blue is over 700 quid :o

Would like to compare one to the Golf as they would both appeal with the all wheel drive capability. I just wished BMW would import the M135i xDrive as would have one over both the Golf and Focus.

I think this looks great and it's a lot more restrained in the looks department as well, which is a very good thing.

Yes I think the massive rear wing is quite subtle too  :P

I think I prefer the look of the out going model.

Should be a great car though

Tim, does your M135i get a bit lively? is that the thinking behind the move to the xDrive, if they sold one. The reason I ask is, I'm about to pull the trigger and order a M135i.

Me too, maybe once I see one I may change my tune. It's got to be the right colour too. Something bold, not dull

Not that I've noticed to be honest, although I rarely push the car to its limits on the road and tend to respect the power through the rear wheels. I would love to do a track day to find and learn the cars limits better. Reason I mentioned the xDrive is for all weather capability as I tend not to use the M135i much during the winter and the tyres fitted as standard are pretty useless in winter conditions. A Golf R would be the better choice for me in this respect but at the end of the day theres no straight 6like the BMW :) I'll probably go for another M135i next year and keep it as a long termer as it won't be replaced after 2017. There is supposidly a 140i on the horizon but unsure if this will be a 6cyl or 4 pot but as the next generation will be front wheel drive I can't see a 6cyl being available.

There has been comments on the M135is lack of ultimate handling which can get ragged and supposidly put down to the location of the rear axle which is not as good as the M235i but these are at very high speeds so on the road probably academic.

I've been very pleased with mine over the past 16 months, great car for the money.

The only non-dull colour is the Blue.

It's a bit marmite !

Cheers for that Tim, I was in the dealership today and have left with some information with respect to price and options etc... I've owned my Zed for five years now and just fancy a little luxury paired with a nice exhaust note. I'm no boy racer or Chris Harris so just want a car thats a sleeper but has some power when needed. I was surprised with the amount of standard equipment nav etc...was only going to add heated seats and adaptive headlights. Saying that Standard equipment has came a long way, since my 2003 Zed was build. (Sorry for the hijack of the thread people)

No problem Paul, PM me if you need anymore info. Discounts are pretty good on the M135i, I would be hoping for around 5k off list when I change next time around as this is what I got off my current one.

I think the basic nav is standard across the BMW range now since September although as you mention standard equipment is pretty good on the M135i. Black panel display is also standard now. Only additions I specced was comfort access and auto fold mirrors. Next time I may go for the sunroof in addition and the Performance Exhaust which is a nice addition.
