FM Electrical interfearence

Hi All,

I've noticed an issue with my FM radio.

When I'm driving along it has a clicking noise through the speakers. The clicking gets faster or slower depending on engine speed. It only does it on FM, all other sources are fine.

The only mods I've made that could effect it are a stubby (Thought this was AM only) and an intravee.

Any ideas on where I should start?!

Thanks!!

Clicking/ticking noises are normally low tension so I would check the connections to your coil packs.

earthing problem?? check wiring behind stereo for something obvious causing the issue. Never seen an issue like this before on the z4 so hopefully easy fix.

I would say sounds like an earthing problem too,

Have typos removed the rear bumper recently? I believe the antenna is in there so if you have it may have been put back incorrectly

Thanks for the suggestions.

Bumper hasn't been off since I've had the car (2.5yrs) and the problem has shown up in the last 18 months or so.

Will start with the coils and head unit and take it from there!!

Thanks again

For those interested, the connection on one of the coil packs hadn't been locked down properly, and the plug was a little loose, I suspect being held in by the loom.

Clipped it back in and its solved the problem.

Thanks for sharing, VRSteve! My new M has this exact problem so I'm going to pull the top cover off and check the coil packs tonight!
