Unfortunate. He was clearly going far too fast but the Mazda shouldn't have pulled out. I'm sure they would of heard the car. I hear them from inside my flat racing up and down the road. They ain't quiet cars.

30 limit
Sorry no sympathy in a built up area. Lucky no pedestrians in the road.

Take it to a race track.

The bloke driving that powerful car in Central London in that manner is a total idiot. What would have happened if there had been a pedestrian crossing the road? It is not clever. Let's hope his insurance company declines to insure him and he is unable to secure insurance from anyone else.

He was an idiot, just as the MPV driver was.

They were both driving without due care & attention at least - and possible 'careless driving' or 'dangerous driving'. However, I bet the police won't charge either driver and simply leave it to the insurance companies to apportion blame. Until the police start apportioning blame and giving those responsible for accidents some points/bans/fines, then I don't think it will make better drivers of anyone.

The MPV driver didn't expect anyone to be stupid enough to be driving that fast down the residential road, and the Lambo driver didn't expect anyone to pull out on him without looking properly.

There are millions of drivers who we'd call idiots, and I'm sure we've all been in a car with one at some time or other. I admit I've made my share of mistakes and I'm just lucky to have realised/stopped/swerved in time to have avoided an accident. I doubt there's anyone on here who's never had a near miss.

As for not letting him hold insurance again, I'm sure most of these 'high net worth' individuals are not insured through standard, run-of-the-mill motor insurance companies anyway. So whilst his premium might increase a little, he won't be too worried. The MPV driver on the other hand, with a 'normal' policy may find his share of a 50:50 claim will make his insurance increase relatively more.

When does it become the fault of the driver who is going straight - is it when he is doing 31 mph, 40? Not sure how it works insurance wise if you are doing something "wrong" at the time but what if the driver is over the drink drive limit, or on a hand held phone - does it affect the insurance blame element? Just curious when traffic law comes into the insurance element.
