Fluid changes for 2025

I am or have changed all the fluids in my Z4M

Changed engine oil Shell ultra racing 10/60w

Power steering fluid as it was changed not long ago due to a steering rack change I vacuumed as much out and topped it up

Engine coolant drained via the blue plug in the rad used the house hoover that blows air to push as much out as possible (I know about the plug in the side of the head but as I change it every year I don't see the risk of removing it as worth it) upon refilling I part filled it and then used the hoover to suck the air out which worked to a point warmed the engine up and added a little bit more

Gearbox oil changed it had some Comar oil in it this time I went for Millers CRX75w NT+ now I used almost 3 strs to fill the box due to the oil syringe being shit and it getting oil all over me and the drive after I started I remembered I was going to get a better one for next time I still have the diff oil to change

Diff oil will be Castrol Transmax LSD 75-140w with red line lsd additive new syringe required as diff oil stinks

Will change the brake fluid as well when that arrives going to use Motal RBF660 I want plenty to drain flush bread flush and bread again for the best results

The good news it after a quick drive to costa and back for fuel the gear change is noticeable better so will be using that oil again next year or Redline if in stock

believe it is 1.5ltrs but get 3 as like me you will end up with 1 ltr down you r arm

It is a job once you start you are committed

And kids always remove the filler plug first so you know you can refill it

Stuart, depending on whether you plan to do all servicing yourself fresh gearbox and diff fluid are part of an Inspection 2 Service on the M.

Roger that-

I had this discussion with Chris (street) I’m not sure if I will be self servicing- the M buyers seem to prefer a stamped service book…

Mind you I may just keep it for ever…

That is a bit of a dilemma, although any potential future buyer on here is unlikely to be put off by a lack of stamps in the book and PDJ seems to self-service his.

I never had that problem. With advancing years, limited workspace and spannering abilities it made perfect sense to whizz it 10 miles or so to RBM!

Even 5 years on mine is still a keeper. :D

The only bits I have not done myself was the LSD diff service and the Vanos

Everything else has been done by me

I have kept a book with very job done and the receipts if they have been paper but these are more and more online

If I traded my car it would be worth the same as the others if it went to an enthusiast they would be able to see the difference

Cars value between 10k and 15k depending on the market and who has money in their pocket at the time so not huge money when you look at the cost of new small family cars

Most people agree condition and care by the owner is a big one for these cars
