Flat Tire

Has anyone had a flat tire that does not have run flat tires. I'm curious how effective the flat tire goop in a can works. I carry the largest size can I could find and a small air compressor. Anyone been through the flat tire ordeal that could give some advice. I'd like to be better prepared.

I was wondering about same issue ,I had a blow out on a Mini last year with non runflats.
I squirted the tyre stuff in as directed and it didn't make a blind bit of difference ,so was stuck on Motorway at 10 pm in January ( probably not such an issue in California ) waiting for pick up to tow me off ....can anyone recommend any reliable products to inflate /seal non run flats ?

Same problem on my Honda :thumbsdown: . The liquid caused huge bubbles in the sidewall of the tyres, so had to get a recovery truck to take the car home. 1.5hr wait at the side of a motorway. :headbang:

The liquid cannot be the cause of the bubbles. Most likely you ran for some distance on the flat, having the inner sidewalls damaged/cut by the wheel. Once it was inflated again, the air pushes outwards, showing bubbles in the sidewall from the thin/weakened area.

BMW does sell an emergency mobility kit that is complete and resonably priced, if you shop around. Included is an Amazon example I found;

''Slime'' brand also makes such a kit;

I had my first tire problem a few weeks ago with the ///M while at a Regional ZSCCA meet in West Virginia. I got a loss of tire pressure warning and was down about 4 psi. I went to a filling station a few blocks away and added air. I then drove about 10 mile to a tire dealer and they removed the nail and inserted a plug. All is good. Lost about 2 hours out the day... :(

The slime stuff is pretty good if you have a slow / small leak. If you have a cut, gash, or large hole in your tire though---you'll need a tow truck. It has fibers mixed in with the slime which 'plugs' the tire up.

Some people are worried about using these products as they may make the one tire with 'slime' inside it a little heavier than the other 3 tires. The benefit of this stuff is you can wash it out with water and have the tire plugged by a tire shop at a later date. A lot of the products out there are basically a form of rubber that coats your inner tire----can't be washed off after.

Slime includes the air compressor and slime gunk. Picked it up from the clearance bin at Canadian Tire for $15 CDN. I keep it in my engine compartment in the storage area behind the heat shield.

Had to use it once before when rescuing a friend with his Civic. Worked great!
