Yikes ! All these battery related problems all over the forum :?

I have a Varta battery with a BMW logo on it, (Cannot find a date) Suspect it's the original "2014"

Best i just get my butt down to Halfords for a new one, just in case.

:driving:

meh.. my battery has only just been replaced, it was the original bmw battery dated 2003 and to be honest that was only as a precaution, it was actually working fine and even now sat in the garage for over a month its reading 12.74v. still not convinced it needed doing really :D

I managed to get in with the help of the RAC. They came round with a bigger and better version of the Slim Jim that I had. They were in, in about 2 minutes!
Thanks for the input!

Thanks to everyone's input on this.

For those who wanted to know how the RAC chap got in... he had a much better Slim Jim than the one I'd cobbled together with a coat hanger on a stick!

So many issues caused by old or cheap batteries.. Get a good one.. I used a Varta as it's the equivalent of the bmw original think I was about 160€.. Then replace it every 5 years regardless..
If you don't use it regularly then a battery conditioner is highly recommended - assuming you have a garage or off road parking..
Many people see batteries fall over dead in winter but they also keel over during high summer temperatures.. Be prepared... Avoid stress..
