Flame decal

Ok, so this does sound slightly chavvy, but I think done properly it could look superb: am thinking about getting dark flames down the front sides of my black Z4MR, coming off of the front and just down the sides almost to the back of each door. Maybe just a thin outline in dark grey on black - subtle but very cool.

Is there a safe (and future removable) way of getting this done without damaging the paint?

That is SOOOOOOOOOO '60s.

Those ghost stripes someone had on their Z4 didn't look too bad, but flames? Just say no.

If you insist, I guess a wrap would be the easiest or an auto decal of some sort.

I really don't think flames will suit the lines and angles on the Z4.

This is coming from a dyed in the wool, time served hot rodder too.

to answer your question.. there are removable vinyls that are easy to take off after a couple years and wont harm paint. Find a vinyl cutter shop that uses Oracal exhibition vinyl. The bad side... it only comes in matte finishes, but the finish itself is really nice, and could be a nice contrast. If you got basically the same color as your car, then used the matte finish to make it look different, that would be a more subtle and interesting effect.

   dont do it! the car has enough going on to look amazing, any more and it would over complicate the car

I think some of you have gotten the wrong impression and somewhat missed the point.

I'm wanting to gently improve my Z4MR in black, with inspiration being drawn from other mega cool black sportscars I've seen with black wheels and splashes of red (such as fully loaded 911 Turbos which look stunning with black wheels etc). Hence, black wheels and several other mods such as red calipers are in the pipeline. With the flame decal idea, what I was after is not chav style red flames, but rather a very faint design on either side, but its only an idea I'm toying with and on the right car, it can look stunning. Did anyone see the purple Lambo in gumball 3000 with lightening graphics all over it - looked stunning. Rest my case.

In any case, I'm sad to say I'm growing slightly bored with my M and want something with a big more soul. Maybe a Cobra replica or early 40s Ford based hot rod, but these are more of a weekend choice than an every day driver!
