Fixing rip in leather door card insert

Morning all,

Currently doing a few more jobs on the z to tidy it up a bit. One of these is a small rip in the leather insert in the drivers side door card.

I've emailed two local places with a picture of the rip, one a larger company has replied stating £85 for a fix, the other a well reccomended 1 man band, said he thought it was probably not repairable.

What are your thoughts? Pic attached.

Could you live with a repair showing?
I couldn't.
Could the one man band re cover?
 
See if you can get before and after repair photos from the guy for other work he has done. This should show you how good the repair could be.
 
Hard to tell from the photo if the leather on thus would be the right colour http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262567581334 but either way if the 2 are close enough should be reasonably easy to re colour it
 
I haven't got a better picture of the colour as its all covered up in the shed now but it's the same as this

No idea how simple it is to recolour leather?
