Fixed - Airbag Cloning Needed ASAP - MOT due soon

I have had my car in the garage since the 10th for the Airbag light. The garage was supposed to try to fix it by transferring the VIN Number to a second-hand unit I had (both the same Part No) however, they have not been successful & have tried other companies to see if they can do it but apparently none have the correct processor to do it. They said that I either need someone with an MCU Processor or who can clone Airbags.

Does anyone know any companies that might be able to do this?

This company may be worth talking to https://ecuconnection.co.uk/product-category/car-manufacturer/bmw/?filter_type=airbag-ecu&filter_car-make=bmw

I assume you mean a control module not an actual airbag?
Where are you?
There are a few of us on here who can do this though it may mean you have to travel or cover fuel costs.
Post up your location and we’ll see who is closest,

Yup, sorry, didn't show up on my phone.
Only got 0.5G here in the backwoods.

I did have a go at sorting this last year for Youdy but couldn't get the module to code with his Vin number. Since then I have got a new Launch scanner coding Tablet which might be worth a go. Otherwise there is a company that repairs these here https://motortronics.co.uk/product/z4-airbag/

Hi All,
Thanks for all the responses. I'm going to chase the garage up tomorrow about whether they have found anyone who can do anything.

I will have to contact ECUconnection as they only display for a Part Number that Superseded (but exchangeable) my current module. The module I have is Part Number 65776935920 & ECUconnection only show that they can work on Part Number 65776939811.
I will also contact motortronics to see if they can do anything.

Hi Colb, would there be any chance that we could have a look at trying that at some point if the garage can't sort it?

Yes can have a go using the Launch scanner I have now got, can't do Sundays or Mondays and rest oof week dependant on my driving job.

This is the facelift ACSM I was trying to code. It seems we cannot find any software versions that include it, so [ref]slipperyshoe[/ref] is now trying to find somewhere that can clone his module into another of the exact same part number.
[ref]Youdey[/ref], I'm sure you mentioned you were using a cloning company, so if you are able to point us in the right direction it would be appreciated. Thanks.

I ended up using ecuconnection.co.uk , you do need to send both modules down to them out of the car. On the website, you select the BMW Airbag ECU 65.77693981 which is a part number for the Z4 main airbag modules. My unit didn't have that number but they said that they should be able to do it if both units provided have the same part number.

I couldn't get 2 modules with the same part number so I wasn't able to get it sorted with them unfortunately.

After 2 years it looks like I have finally got rid of the airbag light!!! A massive thank you to colb & enuff_zed who have both been amazing to me in helping me fix the issue. In the end, I wasn't able to get the airbag cloned as the unit I had supplied wasn't an exact part number match that the cloning company required. I ended up having to use colb's & enuff_zed's expertise to help diagnose the problem & program the VIN to a second-hand module. After 300 miles the airbag light is still no longer showing so I am praying that it stays this way.
