Fitting Ksport brake kit

Hi all,

have just finished fitting a front and rear K sport brakes in an attempt to prepare the car for some track time in the summer.

The rear 330mm 4 pot kit went on perfectly. The front 356mm 8 pot kit however have a bit of an issue where the disc sits 2mm too close to the caliper on the hub side.

Obviously I can't use any washers as I'd just be spacing the bracket + caliper even closer to the disc.

I know there are a few Ksport users on here so any help is appreciated.

Doh.

It's a 2004 Z4 3.0i manual.

Thinking about it further, the only way I can see it working is to place the bracket on the opposite side of the cars brake mount so the caliper bracket mount bolts are going from the outside in i.e opposite to stock (when stock where they screw in from the back of the mount.) So the bracket can be spaced away to centre the disc.

I'll just have to check there's enough clearance between the disc and the caliper bracket for the head of the bolt.

Have you tried contacting the supplier/manufacturer

I have indeed but being a Sunday I wouldn't expect them to be much help today however a fellow enthusiast might.

I have been looking at these brakes for a while

A review once you have some miles on them would be great.

Thanks, that does help to an extent but according the Ksport the bracket should be mounted opposite to how you ( and stock) have. I'm not sure whether that instruction is specific to the 356mm kit.

Just waiting for the factory to get back to me with a definite diagnosis and part number confirmation.

I would have gone same disc as rear 330mm with the 8 pot, too late to change!?

I'm running 356mm front and 330mm rear AP's on my M3 and it's perfect. You can really stand on them repeatedly and my logic was to go as big as 18" wheels allowed.

I think this is now sorted (haven't bled the brakes yet to take it for a good spin).

Just need to clean all the corrosion from the back of the mount and the brackets needed to go the opposite way to stock i.e. the head of the bolts are at the back of the disc so the only issue is the caliper mount can't be removed until the discs are off. The spacing now looks spot on.

Apart from this little issue and having to file the brake hose holder/mount attached to the chassis it was a very straightforward process.
