Fitting Facelift headlights to a non facelift car.

I know its not supposed to be possible without alot of money and hassle. But exactly how much? I was searching the forum trying to get a definitive answer but couldnt find one. The best i found was that it required expensive parts and programming.
The thing is is that if i were to buy clear prefacelift lights from a dealer they are going to set me back around £780 for a pair. Where as i may be able to get facelift lights second hand for around £150-£200. Thats a huge difference. I know that it can be done because the guy with the sexy supercharged zed has done it (sorry i cant remember your name).
So does anyone know exactly what is involved?
 
Come on guys. I dont believe not one person has any idea what is involved. Could anyone even point me in the right direction as to where to find more info?
 
Sorry Sideshow, missed this the first time around. Are we talking halogens or xenons. If it's xenons then start splitting. Halogens, check my signature link. Also, have a look at Peddy's recent(ish) post.

For halogens I think that new price is about right. Used, mine cost me £90 and £100. eBay.
 
Im looking to do halogens but really dont want to start splitting headlights. Someone must know whats involved in fitting facelift lights to prefacelift cars.

If thats the case then why do so many people do the whole cut and shut thing to get clear indicators? :?

Something tells me you've just read the last thread and ignored everything else :telloff:

If you look at the lights link in my signature you'll see photographic evidence of my directly swapping lights! Although I think these are clear pre-facelift. I think the only issue you may have is the indicator lamps, but that is simply sorting one wire.

People doing the cutting have xenons, where there are all sorts of issues. Peddy did a cut and shut on his to retain the silver inners - standard in a 3.0.

If you already have xenon headlamps, it would be less expensive to buy a set of clear halogen headlamps and swap the clear portion into your xenon headlamp.

And while the headlights are cut open, you may as well add aftermarket angel eye halos at the same time :)

i also got rid of the amber spots to give a clean look.

Yeah, I thought about that, but didn't feel it was worth opening the lights for. Was a close call though. To be honest, the main thing that would have had me opening them up would be the AE - when I was sorting this out I had a chat with Mister Roger who sent me some pics... which made it a hard decision, but my budget was just going out the window.
 
Can any please verify whether the following part numbers is pre or post face lift headlights?

63126941561 and 63126941562

63127165687 and 63127165688



Based on what has been written, it seems halogens will fit regardless with the exception of fiddling around with the indicator for the second bulb? Correct?
