Fitting aero skirts can I reuse the original fittings?

I’ve just got my side skirts back from the body shop and am looking to fit them this weekend, can I reuse the clips that pop into the body as I don’t really want to buy new ones at £6 each rivet from BMW. Thanks

As far as I know, they’re the same. Some might break when removing so you might need to replace couple of them.

I was going to ask the same, the aeros came with a seal around the inside too does this need replacing too?

I only bought the replacement clips to go with them, nothing else.

But I did buy the aeros new.

From memory, I took Aeros off a car and replaced them with standard. I reused the clips.

I was wondering as if I’m able to remove without damaging the pop rivets then surely I can reuse them, seems crazy that you would need to replace these parts every time the skirts are removed. The external fixings secure it in place anyway

You can re-use them, but with age they can crumble hence the replacement spares

When my Aeros were fitted most of the clips got reused, but a few couldn't be. Luckily they came with some spare clips.

Thanks for the replies, I don’t mind getting a few if need be but every old how to said they need new clips, obviously the aero skirts are crazy money since they were discontinued and they used to come with the fixings from bmw

It's probably worth having some new ones before you start swapping the sills, otherwise you'll get stuck part-way through.

I can't remember now how many I had to replace, but at a guess I'd say at least 75% got reused.

I'm pretty sure that in the main I was able to re-use the clips from my standard skirts and required only a couple of pre-used clips from the (second hand) aero skirts. I didn't replace the seal. That was about 15 years ago and they're still on the car.
